Mi dearest mother in the Lord:<\/p>\n\n

These few lines are to congratulate you on your saint’s day. May the Lord bless you and grant you many graces, as well as the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, to know God’s will and fulfill it. I will keep you very much in mind before the Lord on that day especially, and I hope you will do the same for me.<\/p>\n\n

We are sending you two jasmine plants and a passionflower; choose whichever jasmine you prefer, and the other is for Aunt Concepci\u00f3n. Do not take them out of the pots; make a hole as they are and cover them with soil\u2014hopefully, that way they will take root better.<\/p>\n\n

With that, I bid you farewell. May the Lord reward you in this life and the next for all the kindnesses you show us. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

My regards to Purificaci\u00f3n and the aunts, and please receive the congratulations of the Mother Abbess, the Vicar, Manuela, Cara, Sister Asunci\u00f3n, and, to avoid naming more, the entire community. Your daughter, who embraces you in Jesus.<\/p>\n\n

I hope that upon receiving this letter, you are in good health. <\/p>\n\n

We are all well here. Sister Mar\u00eda Mi\u00f1ana is very ill, but the rest of the community is fairly well.<\/p>\n\n

The purpose of this letter is to let you know that we have enough rice for about three weeks. When it is convenient for you, please send whatever amount you think is best, and may God reward you. Also, we ask you not to make any cakes. If Pedro comes, let him come.<\/p>\n\n

We did receive the toothbrushes, which we forgot to mention. When you have the chance, please buy a scraper like the one you sent for Sister Ver\u00f3nica; Sister Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas already has one.<\/p>\n\n

With no other matters, greetings from the Mother Abbess and the community, which you may extend to Bautista, Purificaci\u00f3n, and the rest of the family. Your three daughters, who love you very much and never forget you (the youngest).<\/p>\n\n
