I desire to suffer \nand I long for it deeply, \nbut my rebellious flesh \nresists stubbornly.<\/p>\n\n

Because I love the body so much \nand neglect the soul, \nmy flesh feels as though \nit lives crucified. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

But I now promise You \nfrom the depths of my soul \nto overcome my passions \nby becoming more mortified. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

Until now, my Jesus, \nungratefully, I fled from Your cross, \nbut now, in love, I repeat, \nsinging ‘Long live the cross’. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

Amidst anguish and agony, \nmy Jesus, I want to burn \nand, with fervent longing, \nlove, hidden, the suffering. \n<\/p>\n\n

Amidst thorns and bitterness, \nI want to be like a violet, \nand there, in humiliation, \nI will find my delight. \n<\/p>\n\n

Amid crosses and labours, \nfor Your love, I want to live \nhumiliated and despised, \nwithout relief until death. \n<\/p>\n\n

When I contemplate You on the cross, \nYou are thirsty for my love. \nLook at the thirst I offer You \nto ease Your pain. \n<\/p>\n\n

Pierced with three nails, \nI want to live on the cross, \nwithout support or consolation, \nwith my Beloved until death.<\/p>\n\n

When I am sick in bed, \nI will feel the pain, \nand then, in my madness, \nI will sing of my love.<\/p>\n\n

Embraced with my cross, \nI will live very happily, \nand, burdened by my labours, \nI will say a thousand sweet words to it. \n<\/p>\n\n

Love, which is generous, \nnever lets itself be defeated, \nand, even with pain, \nlong live suffering forever!<\/p>\n\n

Secluded in my cell, \nI will hide my pain \nand there, in holy silence, \nI will delight in my Spouse. \n<\/p>\n\n

I would like to love you so much \nthat I could die right away \nand, in a pure act of love, \npossess you completely.<\/p>\n\n

For that, it is necessary \nthat I suffer in silence, \nwaging war upon myself \nonly to bring you joy. \n<\/p>\n\n

Love is never idle, \nit wants to ignite everything \nbecause it wants to burn in flames \nand in the longing to suffer.<\/p>\n\n

In trials and adversities, \nlove is truly tested, \nand it’s seen if it is strong \nor if it surrenders to the pain. \n<\/p>\n\n

Love desires a great soul, \na heart that is detached, \nso that it can carry the cross \nwithout stopping along the way<\/p>\n\n

Love is born in sorrow, \nlives in humiliation, \ngrows in abandonment, \nand reigns in persecution. \n<\/p>\n\n

Amidst forgetfulness and disdain, \nmy Jesus, I want to live, \nso that you may test whether my love \nis pure and knows how to suffer.<\/p>\n\n

From now on, I renounce \nall vain pleasures, \nconsolations and delights, \nembracing suffering. \n<\/p>\n\n

Sorrows and dryness \nare gifts from my God, \nwho wants to prove His love to me \nthrough adversities.<\/p>\n\n

I would like, my Jesus, \nto be so humble and small, \nbeing trampled by everyone \nwithout them hearing any complaint from me. \n<\/p>\n\n

The two of us will live together \nwithout ever separating, \nso that both hearts \nmay beat in unison.<\/p>\n\n

For Your love, dear Jesus, \nI would like to go mad \nand, being foolish and despised, \ndisappear from the world. \n<\/p>\n\n

Like an eager butterfly, \nI will fly to the tabernacle \nand, in loving murmurs, \nI will keep vigil over Your rest.<\/p>\n\n

And, when You wish to awaken, \nI will joyfully sing my song, \ncoming from the heart, \nso it may be pleasing to You. \n<\/p>\n\n

Neither the cheerful birds \nnor the nightingale singing \nwill ever surpass me \nin praising my Beloved.<\/p>\n\n

Like an industrious little bee, \nI will go from flower to flower, \ngathering nectar \nfrom all my little sisters, \n<\/p>\n\n

and then, happily, \nI will offer it at Your feet, \nfor You are thirsty for love \nto quench Your thirst.<\/p>\n\n

From the tabernacle, My Love, \nYou call me without ceasing. \nI want to respond to You \nby offering myself on Your altar. \n<\/p>\n\n

If love has brought us together \nas victims, the two of us, \nI pray to You, My Jesus, \nto be a victim of pain.<\/p>\n\n

In that sweet prison, \nMy Jesus, lock me in, \nand thus, bound and tied, \nI will purge my sins. \n<\/p>\n\n

Prisoner in the tabernacle, \nfor my love, You wish to live. \nLet me enter such a prison \nand live in that confinement.<\/p>\n\n

In that sweet prison, \nI will live in solitude, \nand within your heart, \nI will sleep peacefully. \n<\/p>\n\n

And, to crown my joy, \nOwner of my heart, \nYou allow me to have \nthe key to the prison.<\/p>\n\n

Let me be a sentinel \nat the door of the tabernacle, \nalternating with the angels \nand seraphim singing. \n<\/p>\n\n

And there I will be very pleased \nday and night before the tabernacle, \nguarding the custody, \nwhere the treasure is locked up.<\/p>\n\n

And I have no need to give \nthe key to my tabernacle, \nfor I have my love \nlocked away in the tabernacle. \n<\/p>\n\n

And I will not allow it to ever \nleave my love from the tabernacle, \nand when I can no longer live \nthere, I will die suffocated.<\/p>\n\n

Like a lamp lit, \nI want to burn before Your altar, \nremaining alight, \nconsumed by love. \n<\/p>\n\n

In the silence of the night, \nwe will be together, \nand there we will communicate, \nheart to heart.<\/p>\n\n

How joyful we will be \nin the silence, the two of us, \nwithout anyone disturbing \nour communication! \n<\/p>\n\n

Here I come, captivated \nby the fire of Your love, \nasking You to pierce \nmy heart with Your arrows.<\/p>\n\n

So that, thus wounded \nwith the dart of Your love, \nYou may recognize me as Yours \nwhen I leave this prison. \n<\/p>\n\n

As a prisoner in the cloister, \ndespised, I will live, \nand, thus, united with my Beloved, \nin His arms I will die.<\/p>\n\n

Here I come, my Jesus, \nto seek You in solitude, \nI have so much to tell You, \nlisten to me, for pity’s sake. \n<\/p>\n\n

You have left me so alone… \nMy Love, where are You? \nLook, without You, I do not live, \nand I die from sorrow.<\/p>\n\n

Tell me if you are angry, \nfor I wish to remedy it, \nI would rather wish for a thousand deaths \nthan return to sin. \n<\/p>\n\n

For I am the one at fault \nand in this I speak the truth, \nthat I have not responded to you \nwith all fidelity.<\/p>\n\n

At your feet, repentant, \nI come with humility, \ntell me good litanies \nand let me know my wickedness.<\/p>\n\n

Punish me as you wish \nfor I want to be with you, \nand even if you tear me apart, \nI cannot leave you.<\/p>\n\n

You want me barren and dry \nand with much darkness, \nblessed be your name, \nyour will be done. \n<\/p>\n\n

I find myself alone, my love, \nin so much desolation, \nthat I desire nothing else \nbut to unite with my God.<\/p>\n\n

I never have joy, \nand without you, everything is sorrow. \nTake me wherever you want, \nfor I will be content. \n<\/p>\n\n

You know well, my life, \nthe thirst I have to love. \nGive me something to drink quickly, \nfor I can no longer bear it.<\/p>\n\n

These vehement longings \nare finally going to kill me, \nand if you wish, my dear, \nyou can heal them. \n<\/p>\n\n

You have your hand clenched, \nand you don’t want to give it to me, \nbut I won’t give up on my attempt, \nbecause one day, you’ll open it<\/p>\n\n

As long as you let yourself be seen \nand I can find you, \nall my sorrows vanish \nand you heal my sickness. \n<\/p>\n\n

Look, I find myself sick \nand in great danger, \nand if you want me to live, \nlet yourself be found soon.<\/p>\n\n

I want to ask you for a grace \nthat you will grant me, \nas I need it very much \nand cannot reach it. <\/p>\n\n

I want to be a child \nin candor and humility, \nin obedience and purity, \nand in holy simplicity.<\/p>\n\n

I ask You to keep me small \nand to make me aware of my faults, \nso I may lose myself in nothingness, \nnever to be self-found. \n<\/p>\n\n

May I always remain submissive \nso that others may lead me, \nand may this be kept hidden, \nwithout anyone ever noticing.<\/p>\n\n

May I live unknown, \nhidden in my work, \nin silence and obedience, \nand in fulfilling Your will. \n \n \n \n<\/p>\n\n

This is what I ask of You, \nand You will grant it to me, \nfor it pleases You greatly, \nand I wish to please You.<\/p>\n\n

It is my dominant passion \nsilence and solitude, \nbecause I know very well that there \nis when You usually speak. \n \n \n<\/p>\n\n

And there, still, calm \nin the holy solitude, \nYou will teach me what You want \nso I can please You.<\/p>\n\n

And when there, the two of us together \nwe come to embrace, \nOh, what a sweet conversation \nwe will have together. \n \n \n \n<\/p>\n\n

Oh, fortunate retreat \nand blessed solitude! \nAnd from how many evils you deliver \nthose who are with You.<\/p>\n\n

The moments I have free \nI will spend here, \nlearning this language \nso I can speak to You. \n \n \n<\/p>\n\n

Every day I will come \nto receive my lesson \nand teach me how \nYou speak to my heart.<\/p>\n\n

I, like a faithful turtledove, \nwill fly to solitude \nand in the chest of my beloved, \nthere I will rest in peace. \n \n<\/p>\n\n

And when, lying there, \nin the virginal chest, \nI will be set on fire \nby that celestial volcano. \n<\/p>\n\n

Let me sacrifice myself \nlike a host upon the altar \nto atone for my sins \nand for the sins of others. \n<\/p>\n\n

So that my sacrifice \nmay please you, \nmay it be an angel in purity \nand a seraphim in love<\/p>\n\n

And finally, my spouse, \nI allow myself to be captivated, \nand hugged to your chest, \nI shall breathe out in ecstasy.<\/p>\n\n
