María Teresa and her daughters were beatified by Pope Saint John Paul II on the11th of March, 2001, during a celebration in which a total of 232 martyrs were beatified. In the homily, he highlighted María Teresa with these words:
How can we not be deeply moved when hearing the accounts of their martyrdom? The elderly María Teresa Ferragud was arrested at the age of eighty-three along with her four contemplative daughters. On October 25, 1936, the feast of Christ the King, she asked to accompany her daughters to martyrdom and to be executed last so that she could encourage them to die for their faith. Her death impressed her executioners so much that they exclaimed, ‘This is a true saint’
