Dearest siblings Bautista and Purificación,
We are very happy to hear that Bautista’s leg is improving; we thought it would take a long time to heal, and, thank God, you’ll soon return home.
Now we pray the Lord grants him health. God knows how much you must have suffered, and we have suffered as well, without being able to help; may all this serve for God’s glory and the satisfaction of our sins.
The mother, poor thing, must have suffered so much these days, alone with the maid, as elderly as she is, and with the added worry of how things would turn out.
Thank God that he has improved quickly; now may the Lord restore his health so that he can continue forward, and may all that we have endured serve as suffrage for Mrs. Vicenteta, if she needs it.
Regards to María Vicenta, to Consuelo, and a little kiss for the child.

These few lines are to wish Purificación a happy feast day, hoping she spends it with much health and joy, in the company of Bautista, Juanito, mother, and the rest of the family.
I was very happy to read Bautista’s letter and know that he is better, thank God, and also that Juanito has brought so much joy to the sisters.
We are all well here. Yesterday it snowed a little, but today is a very nice day.
Make sure that mother is well looked after and warmly dressed.

Dear brother: In due time, we received your letters dated the 4th, and the following day, the one from the 7th. I wrote you a postcard on the 3rd because I was anxious and couldn’t wait any longer, but that night we received yours from the 30th. All the letters not delivered through regular mail are handed to us discreetly by a family member, so you probably already know everything, God willing.
They have brought 300 or 400 children from schools and orphanages and distributed them among various households. In Bautista’s house, they requested a girl, but she hasn’t arrived yet; they say more will come. Some say the children are well-behaved.
Juanito is doing well, very clever at remembering everything he’s told. He has an excellent memory but is very afraid of mice. I believe you already have the letter from the 5th in your possession.
